Ilkay Gundogan has revealed he would love to work with Pep Guardiola in a different role once his Manchester City playing career is over.

  Speaking to Bild, Gundogan claimed he would be interested in working as Pep's assistant manager in the future, despite wanting to extend his playing career as long as possible. He says his "body is in good shape" but admits he has considered life with his current Man City boss after retirement.

  Gundogan said: "Being Pep’s assistant would be very interesting for me. But that [coaching] is not something I’m thinking about right now. I feel like I’m really enjoying football. Not just for one more year, but at least two, maybe even three or four. I’m not afraid at all, I’m excited, and my body is still in good shape.”

  Gundogan has one year left on his Manchester City contract and sounds keen to stay at the club, having played his best football since returning in recent weeks. The German international has started nine of City's last 10 matches.
