According to , the Bundesliga giants are in advanced talks to appoint Kompany as their new manager and could formally announce the Burnley boss' arrival in the next couple of days. Bayern, however, will have to pay compensation to the Clarets as the 38-year-old has an active contract at Turf Moor until 2028.

Upon retirement, he took charge of Belgian side Anderlecht and managed for three years before heading to Burnley in 2022. In his first season at the helm, the former defender helped the club win the Championship title and gain promotion to the Premier League, however, they lasted for just a season in the top flight before going back to the second division after they finished 19th in the 2023-24 campaign.
